Why did you decide to launch your business? 

 At Hurley Books we’ve been selling books for over 20 years and it occurred to us that there was room for a dedicated website for Cornish books and DVDs.  Cornwall has more books written about it than any other county and given the thousands that we have in stock we think it deserves a bespoke site.

What new products and services are you offering?

We’ve decided to really look at the way people buy books and have put the desire to buy before the need to sell. As well as all the normal ways to pay, on this site you’ll be able to use Book Tokens which you can’t do yet with any other online retailer.  You’ll also be able to find books, not just by subject, but also by location. So all books around St Agnes, for example, be it a history of mining, or a crime thriller, or a walking guide, will pop up under a location finder.

What do you see as your unique selling point?

Our range of titles is huge because we will be aiming to stock everything in print relating to Cornwall. We also stock an enormous range of second hand and collectable Cornish titles.  We hope to offer local authors and publishers a more financially competitive selling platform than Amazon thereby boosting Cornish trade.

How are you feeling about the forthcoming year?

Excited, nervous, eager.  The site launches in January although people will be able to use it from December onwards. I hope that people enjoy using it, discover new titles and authors and come back and visit us on a regular basis.
