Maritime

Although Britain is a maritime nation we feel it most keenly down here wrapped up in the sea as we are. For 150 years Falmouth was home to the international postal service, news of trafalgar came to Falmouth first. Marconi's telegaph sea line were laid by boats heading out of Porthcurnick. Falmouth coastguard is the first port of call for any British ship anywhere in the world. The Cornish have raced, sailed, smuggled and fished for as long as there have been people living in Cornwall.
